If you've heard about BitTorrent and want to download files but don't know how, this tutorial is for you. All you need is uTorrent and you're ready. Watch the tutorial and leave a comment with any questions/feedback you may have.
Note: If you want to learn how to send files using uTorrent or a bit of information on how BitTorrent works in general, see this page. If you downloaded a .rar archive or multipart .r01, .r02 etc files, this page will tell you what to do with them. If you need help with uTorrent, visit their forums.

For some reason they are not downloading and it says Failure unrecognized host (my IP) then it says go to http://torrents.shexnet.com. Also everything shows zeros and nothing is happening.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 22/03/2007 - 22:38.I used uTorrent 1.6 to download a movie file (paradise.avi) after hours! of downloading and uploading it finally finished but when i go to open the downloade file (paradise.avi) it wont' open! It shows that it has 693 MB and it's in .avi format but when i try to open it in a Divx player a message comes up saying "Error Opening File. Make sure it is a valid AVI or MPEG-4 file." What went wrong?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 20/12/2006 - 08:51.I'm kind of confused as to the question your asking here. You can find out the current Port Utorrent is using by opening your "Speed Guide" available through "Options" at the top of the program.
As for whether the port is working correctly or not is another thing. It can easily be checked again through the "Speed Guide". There will be a button that says "Test if port is forwarded properly". Another easier way of determining whether or not the port is being forwarded correctly is to look at the bottom system tray of Utorrent. If you see a green check mark, your port is being forwarded properly. If you see a yellow exclamation point in a triangle, it is not being forwarded properly.
www.portforward.com will allow you to choose your modem and will take you step-by-step on forwarding a port correctly in Utorrent.

To be frank, I'm about as far from a teacher as you can get, since I get frustrated all the time with people for not being born with my knowledge. However, the method to teaching is quite simple, just assume the other person knows nothing, and say everything there is to say, and nothing more. That way, you get the lowest common denominator, and everyone's happy.

Just right click the file and you will see Bandwidth Allocation and set it to high FOR MORE SPPPPEEEDD!

Generally, there will be a file called readme, or install, or something like that. You read that first, didn't you. DIDN'T YOU!!?!?

If it's an iso file, you'll need something like Daemon Tools which allows you to mount the iso files as if they were a normal cd.
